Lately, I’ve been coming across articles and discussions on the issue of copying. It’s surprising to hear that many of them hold a somewhat traditional point of view when it comes to the idea of copying work. For me, I felt much of my artistic career has been learning how to copy more, and after reading Austin Kleon’s much talked about Steal Like an Artist, my sentiments for copying blatantly have only become stronger.
I was really excited to hear when Barrel, the studio I am currently a part of, decided to take a trip across the river to Hyperakt. I used to pass by this studio all the time on the way to my old job, and always thought about how cool it would be to pay a visit. Thanks a lot to everyone there for being so inviting. They seem like a fantastic team and have a lot of great work on their site. I also found out that they hold talks in their huge backyard with amazing designers, artists, critics such as Khoi Vinh, Louise Fili, and Steve Heller.

This was the first time I was able to work directly on a Letterpress machine working with would type. I found a studio down the street from me and I was really looking for a project that I could put the press to use. Happy People wanted me to do another show poster for them so I thought it was the perfect opportunity. It was definitely a little bit clunky working with wooden type, but a lot of fun.
